Throwing a party in the garage is as easy as ABC!

Party in the garage

If you’ve got a big family reunion coming up and it’s your turn to host, you’ve likely been thinking about where you can fit the 40 family members on the big day.

Look no further, with a little bit of work, your garage can become the ideal venue!

Spruce it up!

  • Move larger items out of the garage to make space (if needed cover with a tarp in the garden)
  • Cover large objects you cannot move with brightly coloured or white tablecloths
  • Wash the floor, walls and surfaces
  • Cover up a wall with a white sheet – the perfect homemade projection screen
  • Check lightbulbs and replace any defective bulbs

Turn it into a party venue!

  • You’re going to need tables and chairs; you can borrow extra chairs from friends and family, or ask guests to bring their own
  • Cover tables with brightly coloured or white tablecloths
  • Hang decorations everywhere! You want this to feel like a party venue, so hang decoration wherever guests will be: Inside the garage, outside the garage, in the garden, and in the driveway
  • Hook‑up a music system
  • Plug in a fridge for drinks and snacks

Don’t forget to feed your guests!

  • Have you asked guests to bring dishes or are you providing all the food? Either way, put out tables for the food
  • Is it BYOB or open bar? Make sure you’ve got plenty of ice and cooler space to store drinks
  • Don’t forget to pick up enough plastic cups and paper plates to save on the washing up!

See, planning a party in your garage is easy-peasy, but don’t forget to let your neighbours know that there might be some additional noise, you don’t want anybody complaining on your special day.
